What makes Suncity a world school?

Suncity is international by virtue of its choice of boards, international students, curriculum, methodology and a state of the art infrastructure to support its academics. The school receives students with a variety of abilities, interests and experiences. The school believes in implementing a programme of sequential, instructional experiences and activities based on sound educational practices and research. The goal is to develop knowledge & skills and attitudes, which students need to be productive, responsible and self -fulfilled members of the school and society.

In what sense is Suncity also an Indian school?

Our students strive to understand their own country, to value its cultural diversity and rich variety of natural resources and to work for their protection and preservation - for future generations. ‘Sanskaars’ or the values imbibed are based to a great extent on the Indian Ethos. SUNCITY accepts and promotes diverse cultures and traditions of other nations keeping in mind the quote Vasudeva Kutumbakam.

What methodology would be used to teach my child at Suncity?

Suncity believes that learning is about curiosity and hence focuses on the acronym ASK to define its methodology. ASK – U is the objective of learning here and it also stresses on the ASK aspect of learning. A – Application

Learning is complete when all three are integrated into teaching. To ensure that an amalgamation of all the intelligences are done to help in holistic development the school focuses on the Multiple Intelligences – MI. It reinforces that learning is trans - disciplinary with knowledge and skills spread across the subjects.

How will Suncity prepare my child for entrance to a good University?

Students of Suncity School can gain admission to any University all over India and abroad. The IB Diploma, which will be offered from August 2018, is accepted by universities and colleges all over the world including the UK, the USA, Europe, Australia, South-East Asia and India. IB Diploma students arrive at college with highly developed thinking skills than graduates from other systems. SAT-ACT prep, preparation for the joint entrance examination will all be part of the curriculum after grade X.

What if my child isn’t a self-directed learner?

The Multiple-Intelligences and Project learning approach is designed to stimulate intellectual curiosity, enthusiasm, responsibility and self-discipline. It is a student-centred methodology with a high degree of teacher facilitation and direction. Small classes and a very favourable teacher student ratio – 1:10 - ensures individualized attention.

How are parents involved in the educational process?

What medical facilities & guidance counselling services does the school provide?

The school has a full time medical doctor and nurse and a well-equipped infirmary. A full time counsellor – a clinical psychologist is also an integral part of the facility at Suncity.

What are the methods of assessment?

At Suncity School we encourage a student’s individual development and set attainable targets. Classes Pre Nursery to Class II follow the grading system. Class III onwards, students have to appear for Half yearly and Final exams in the respective semesters.

When does the admission open for the next Academic Session?

Admissions for the next academic session starts in the month of September. Forms can be collected from the Accounts Office in the school and are available subject to availability of seats.

What are the timings for the school?

Summer School Timings: 08:00 to 14:30 hours
Friday School Timings (summer): 08:00 to 15:30 hours
Winter School Timings: 8.30 to 15:00 hours
Friday School Timings (winter): 08:30 to 16:00 hours
Pre-nursery(summer): 9:20 to 12:30
Nursery, Kindergarten timings (summer): 8:20 to 12:30

Does the school have boarding (residential) facilities?

Suncity is a day school with extended hour facilities. Residential facilities are not offered by the school.

Do I need an appointment to visit Suncity School?

Suncity School welcomes all prospective parents to visit the school according to their convenience. To meet the Principal prior appointment is always needed.

What were the school’s CBSE, IGCSE & IB results in the last year?

Do you have expat teachers working in the school?

Suncity is a world school and has both local and expat teachers working in the school in various roles. Teachers are all selected after a rigorous interview and demo lessons and must have the requisite qualifications for the role.

What is the teacher student ratio in the school?

The teacher student ratio is 1:10 to facilitate individualized attention and enable productive use of class time.

When should I submit an application for admission?

Applications are accepted throughout the term depending on the availability of seats in the class to which admission is sought. It is mandatory for those applying for admission to fill in the form online at-www.suncityschool.in Announcements for admission to the Elementary Years Programme is made through the school website as well as via an advertisement in a leading newspaper in August (tentatively)

Is there a policy for offering admissions to siblings of students in school?

The school gives preference to siblings and transfer cases.

What is the age criteria for admissions?

The Age Criteria for admission are as follows - (the cut-off date for age to be calculated as on 30th September)
Pre- Nursery: 2+ years
Nursery: 3+ years
K.G: 4+ years
For primary classes the child to be admitted, needs to produce a Transfer Certificate from the previous school. This only refers to Grade 1 and above.

Do you accept student applicants from other educational systems?

Yes, we accept student applicants from other educational systems. During admission they need to submit the original mark sheet/report card and Transfer Certificate from the previous school before taking admission. The Transfer Certificate has to be attested by the concerned Educational Board Authorities.

How will I pay the registration/admission fees?

The fee needs to be remitted via cheque.

When do I have to pay the school tuition fees?

The tuition fees need to be paid quarterly. The due date would be on the 5th of every quarter i.e. July 5th; Oct.5th; Jan.5th; April 5th.

Can my child join school late as long I have paid the fees?

This is decided by the school authorities strictly on a case by case basis.

Is it possible to sit in a classroom or meet with a teacher, counsellor or the principal while visiting the school?

All prospective parents can meet Ms. Reema, PRO, to understand the ethos of the school.

What is the uniform policy of the school?

The students have designated uniforms for both summer and winter. Please refer to the Parent – Student Handbook for more details. There is no uniform for Pre – Nursery. Any accessory – such as – hair band/bandana, rubber – band/fasteners, hairclips has to be BLACK.

Does the school have provision for hot meals and snacks for the students?

The school has a refectory which serves meals and snacks to the students. Students of grades 1 and above need to carry coupons to school to avail the food served in the refectory. Self - service is mandatory, however all students are entitled to ask for extra helpings. The EYP students are taken to the refectory and served by the nannies.

Does the school have buses for students?

The school has an excellent fleet of comfortable, well maintained, air -conditioned buses manned and operated by trained staff. The school transport is provided to students on a first – come – first – serve basis, subject to the availability of seats. The main aim is to provide safe, comfortable and efficient service to our children.

Does the school offer afterschool activities?

The school offers various afterschool activities. Every Friday it is mandatory for all students to be part of club activities of their choice. Before and after school games offered to the students include – Lawn Tennis, Basketball, Football, Badminton, Taekwondo, Swimming (in summer), Yoga, Gymnastics & Cricket.

What are the security features implemented in the school?

Suncity School is the first school that has implemented the EVOTAG system whereby both the school and the parents can track the whereabouts of the children within the premises of the school and also on the school buses. There are 320+ cameras all over the school and all sensitive areas are constantly surveilled. The footage is regularly checked by authorized personnel in the school. Trained guards man the 4 gates of the school and have strict instructions regarding the admission and movement of visitors within the school premises.
