Suncity School, Sector-54, organized an Orientation Programme for the new set of parents on Saturday, 21st January 2023. The objective was to give the parents an opportunity to experience and understand the world their child explores in school. It helped to foster a positive and collaborative relationship between the parents and the teachers by giving a bird’s eye view of the curriculum, rules and regulations of the school, teaching methodologies and co-curricular activities.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome note by a Kindergarten student followed by prayers. Ms. Sangeeta Bagchi, Headmistress Elementary Years Programme, addressed the gathering. She began the session with an engaging activity that encouraged the creativity of the audience. The activity highlighted the importance of parenting and the ‘Trinity Triangle’ for the holistic development of the child by being compassionate, understanding and caring in their developing phase. It gave the parents a synopsis of how our curriculum is an amalgamation of various subjects with multiple intelligences, Design Thinking and Sustainable Development Goals. Ms. Bagchi further explained the importance of igniting curiosity in young minds with a variety of examples.

Thereafter, the parents were given a walk-through of the curriculum integration methodology of the school, showcasing various subjects like English, Mathematics, Hindi and Thematic Learning along with the co-curricular and hands-on activities. It helped the parents to understand that when the integration of subjects is done well, it has the potential to widen and deepen students’ learning experiences and ensure the holistic development of the child.

The orientation programme was a great platform for both the school and the parents to share and understand the best practices which can be followed to prepare children for life.
