English And Sports Week- Grades I

The ‘English & Sports Week’ was organized for Grades I & II from 21st to 25th November 2022. In order to enhance students’ interest in learning English, an array of interesting activities were held during the week. The students participated with great zeal and enthusiasm by showcasing their hidden talents. These activities provided a platform to the children to showcase their creative skills and enhance their vocabulary, language skills and soft skills. 
Following are the glimpses of the activities conducted: 

Assembly (‘Bards-A Tribute to the storytellers of Yore’) - A special assembly was conducted by the students of Grade II-B on Monday, 21st November 2022. The title of the assembly was ‘Bards-A Tribute to the storytellers of Yore’. The children amalgamated English and sports beautifully and shared some interesting information on the two famous bards- Rabindranath Tagore as ‘The Bard of Bengal' and William Shakespeare as the ‘Bard of Avon’. They also shared the famous quotes and books written by them. The assembly concluded with a famous poem by Rabindranath Tagore, ‘Where the mind is without fear.’ All the learners spoke confidently and with proper voice modulation. The assembly was very informative, and the students thoroughly enjoyed watching it.

Spin A Yarn (Grade II) - The students embarked on an exciting journey of story writing. They were given a set of pictures related to magnificent India, and they created a self-composed story based on the same. The children experienced the joy of self-expression while intelligently planning a story.

Budding Authors (Grade I) - The children got on an exciting journey of weaving a story. The children were shown some props like the Indian flag, pictures of the national symbols, sports equipment related to the sports played in India, stars, magic wand, puppets, etc. and they weaved a story around these props in groups. They donned their creative hats and made funny, dramatic and scary stories.

Create your own superhero!
The children created their own superhero on a sheet of paper that was given to them. They also wrote about a few powers they would like their superhero to have. They were encouraged to mention a few powers that would help bring a positive change in the society and make our planet a comfortable place for everybody.  

Jumble Rumble
Incorporating sports in the daily curriculum makes learning interesting and effective. With this thought in mind, races for grades I and II were conducted and the children learnt about the glory of incredible India through an array of sentences.

COMPETITION
The feeling of nationalism is indispensable to the idea of nation-building.
Sports, where our country is being represented at the international level, is the common emotional and patriotic thread that binds people together and helps in developing a feeling of UNITY. A national sport is considered 
to be an intrinsic part of the culture of a nation. As part of their research, the students spoke about the sports of our country, such as kabbadi, gulli -danda, kancha/marble, polo, shatranj-chess, etc.
