Le Concours de la Francophonie, 2022 Mayo College, Ajmer

Suncity School, Gurgaon, participated in the prestigious French festival, ‘Le Concours de la Francophonie’ from 9th to 11th October, 2022 at Mayo College, Ajmer. The exuberant event meticulously planned and executed by the host school Mayo College, was an outcome of the enthusiastic participation of 15 schools including schools from Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The Mothers International, Mayoor School, Doon School, Welhams, The Birla School, Scindia and Gems Modern Academy, Dubai were some of the participating schools.

The event commenced with a gala opening ceremony on 9th which was marked by performances from Mayo college boys and girls schools. The Francophonie quiz was also held on the same day.

This was followed by the reading and declamation competitions on 10th, wherein Suncitizens, Astha Vora and Anushka Vora impressed one and all with their eloquent performances. The spelling bee event and the Francophonie exhibition were held in the afternoon. Mahika Bellaney and Ira Sharma put up an impressive display on Seychelles and made a convincing statement with their beautifully executed PPT presentation.

The evening saw scintillating performances in the song and poetry recitation competitions which were held in the magnificently lit Kangra amphitheatre. Our students Noyonika Chatterjee and Arsh Punj enthralled the audience with their mesmerizing performances. The chief guest of the event was the Principal of Mayo Girls School, Mrs. Kanchan Khandke. This was followed by Directors Dinner at Twiss House, where our Headmistress, Ms. Deepali Singh, charmed the audience with her short speech.

11th October, the concluding day for the French Festival, also being the International Day for the girl child, was marked with various activities to commemorate the same. An adventure activity involving aerobics followed by a 2 km run was planned in the early morning. Suncitizens participated in the race with enthusiasm and won several prizes. During the day there were inspiring interactive sessions with Marathon runner, Ms.Anjali Sarogi and wildlife photographer, Ms. Arzoo Khurana.

Students enjoyed a delightful Polo match at the Jaipur Pavilion in the evening, and proceeded for the lavish closing ceremony thereafter. The Canadian High Commissioner to India, Mr. Cameron Mackay, addressed the audience virtually. click here
