26th Haryana State Chess Championship held on 22nd and 23rd June

It was once wisely said, "Chess is the gymnasium of the mind."

Young suncitizens have once again made us proud with their exemplary performance at the XXVI Haryana State Chess Championship.

The winners were:-
Dhruv Singh Bisht VI C,
Anushree Venkatraman VII C and
Riddhika Kotia IX F.

Dhruv Singh Bisht of grade VI C, won the second prize in the Under-13 category and will be representing Haryana in the National Chess Championship to be held in Pondicherry in December 2022. Riddhika Kotia won the gold in the Under-15 category. Their admirable focus and technique in the game of chess have brough numerous laurels to Suncity School. The championship took place from 22nd to 23rd June 2022.

This championship is organised to select two players (Winner & Runnerup) from each State to officially watch the 44th Olympiad to be held in Chennai from 28th July to 10th August. This will be a great opportunity for the winners to watch and interact with grand masters.

Moreover, suncitizen Tanishka Kotia had the honour of being the torch bearer of the Chess Olympiad in Gurugram. On the occasion of the 75th independence day of India, the torch will be sent to 75 different cities over 40 days. Tanishka had the opportunity to not only represent our school, but also our city. There are a total of 189 countries participating in the national chess olympiad.

We wish the winners the best of luck for all future endeavours and hope this great achievement is an inspiration for all other students.
