Summer Camp -Switzerland: 20th To 30th May 2022
A ten day summer camp organized by Swiss International Boarding School, Leukerbad, Switzerland was attended by 13 students from Grades VIII- X along with one Teacher – Ms. Bindu Gera from 20th – 30th May 2022. All were accommodated at the Boarding House in rooms of 2/3 students each where meals were provided.
The details of the activities carried out are as follows:
Day0 –Flight to Geneva
Day1- sightseeing in Geneva –UN Headquarters (outside), Cern Museum, Lac Leman Geneva Lake, Travel to Leukerbad
Day2- Walking tour of Leukerbad, Albinen and Inden Villages; Ice breaker Informal chat about origin & discussing the economical & social backgrounds of diverse cultures and building relationships with existing SiBS students & faculties
Day3- German Lessons in school, followed by Session on Hotel operations class by Hotel Regina; Mini golf at Sports Arena; swimming experience of the Thermal Bad( hot water pool)
Day4 - German Lessons in school ; Introduction to Swiss Banking by Raffeissen Bank which gave our students a financial comprehension & understanding the business models of Swiss banking; Hands on experience of Scouting in the forest –making a shelter, collecting water, baking bread, lighting a fire; Traditional Swiss Dinner with music from different culture.
Day5- Visit to Interlaken - Cable car to view both the Brienzersee and Thunersee at once from a viewing platform Harder Kulm which stands out from the mountain; Indian meal, Shopping
Day6- German lessons, Visit to tourism office- Students learnt about tourism in Leukerbad and the challenges faced; Indoor sports- Badminton, Tennis, Squash, Gym, Table tennis - to promote Healthy exercise for students well-being and show how Leukerbad as a town lives with sport; Indian dinner with Indian music.
Day7- German lessons , Lesson on Global perspectives; Visit to Sion historical castle & observe the natural wonders at the Animal museum.; Leukerbad Farm visit which offered a sense of understanding and appreciation for nature and the animals that provide food for us.
Day8- Visit to Caillier Chocolate Museum & Gruyere Cheese Factory; Lake at Montreux.
Day9- Hiking in the morning followed by Graduation ceremony in the evening.
Day10 - Departure to Geneva airport for return.
