Suncity School, Gurgaon, participated in the prestigious Le Concours de la Francophonie (Competition of the Francophonie), which was held virtually from 13th September to 23^rd October, 2021 organized by Mayo College, Ajmer. The exuberant event meticulously planned and executed by the host school MAYO COLLEGE, saw the  participation of 19 schools from across the globe including schools from UK, Sri Lanka and Dubai, making it the grandest LCF in the 8 years since its inception.

The opening ceremony took place on 13th September. Chief Guest for the same was the Ambassador of France, Mr. Emmanuel Lenain.

The Deputy Head of Mission of Switzerland Dr. Olivier Fink also delivered his speech on the occasion.

There were two ice-breaking sessions, which involved informal interaction between students of all schools, and was thoroughly enjoyed by our suncitizens.

There were also 5 webinars, during the event, wherein scholars from the field of literature and francophonie, delivered talks and interacted with the students.

There were 12 competitions in all, and Suncity school students participated in 10 of the events. Our students held the Suncity banner high by winning prizes in the following events –

1. Anushka Vora – 1st Prize – French reading
2. Astha Vora – 3rd Prize – French Declamation
3. Aditya Kathane – 3rd Prize – Francophonie Quiz
4. Suhani Kapoor – 3rd Prize – French Spell Bee

This years’ prizes have been sponsored by the French Institute in India, and include books as well as Amazon gift vouchers, in addition to certificates of achievement.

The Closing ceremony on the 23^rd of October, 2021 was graced by the presence of eminent personalities such as Mr. François Delhaye, the Ambassador of Belgium and H.E. Ms Tahina Rasamoelina, Deputy Ambassador, officiating as Chargée d’Affaires at the Embassy of the Republic of Madagascar to India.

Director of Mayo College, Lt Gen SH Kulkarni thanked the participating schools, teachers and heads of schools for their support and enthusiasm.
