The Inter-house Patriotic Song Competition was held on 6th August 2021. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the event was held online, but that did not deter the spirit of the young singers from performing to the best of their abilities. It was a recorded event, YouTube link for the same was shared with the staff and students, who witnessed the event.

The event saw quality participation from all the four houses. Practice sessions for the same began on 11th June under the guidance of Ms. Jhuma and the house mistresses on weekends and after school. Being a group based singing competition, each house had an active participation of almost 6-8 students. Each house prepared a Hindi patriotic song that was composed by Ms. Jhuma. The song was based on different classical ragas- Raag Bhoopali, Raag Darbari etc. The recording of the performances was done by a team of students well versed with latest technology. Ms Jhuma, Mr. Dheeraj and Mr Rambi, Ms.Shreya and Mr. Chamthai edited the videos. The participants from grades V to XI put forth an enthralling performance that sparked the virtues of patriotism within the audience which was appreciated and loved by all. This was collated with the help of IT department.

A welcome note of Hindi compering marked the beginning of the event at 13:15 hours followed by the introduction of the judge, post which the singing competition began. Each house showed their mastery over voice modulation, pitch, rhythm and tone. The children showcased a sense of pride, self-esteem and self-confidence as a result of the competition.

All our young maestros who took part in the competition made the competition a great success. The harmonious event culminated at 14:15 hours with the Chief Guest, Mr. Ashish Pattnaik, binding the onlookers with yet another patriotic song, Vande Maatram. The event was then wound up with vote of thanks followed by the national anthem.

The competition was judged by Mr. Ashish Pattnaik, who is the lead singer of Seven and half band. He has done his Bachelor of Music from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad in Hindustani Classical Vocal. He is a disciple of Mrs. Chandana Poddar (Patiala Gharana), Pt. Geetesh Mishra (Benaras Gharana). He has done several recordings for Doordarshan Kendra, Chandigarh. Mr.Ashish is an avid music lover and has been associated with many Musical Associations like SPICMACAY, Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Gandharva School of Music.

Indian house was declared the winner, Arctic House was adjudged the first runners up and Pacific house the second runners up by the judge. Jai Hind!
