The Suncity Model United Nations Club under the guidance of the Secretary General, Riyanshi Gambhir and other Secretariat members successfully conducted the Sixth edition of SUNCITY- INTRA MUN. The event was organised on the 31st of July and 1st of August 2021 and saw participation from grades VII- XII. Four committees were simulated during the conference, namely, United Nations General Assembly, Historic Security Council, International Monetary Fund and All India Political Parties Meet. The UNGA, a plenary committee, discussed the Israel-Palestine conflict- a probing agenda that sought to delineate the definition of ‘statehood’. Vanya Duggal and Vaibhav Kumar, grade XII students chaired the committee with finesse and great insight.

The Historic Security Council went back in history and simulated the Gulf War of 1991.The first ‘televised’ war of the modern-ear, this significant international event left an indelible imprint on history. Delegates sought to prevent the war from happening in a hypothetical recreation of the past.

The All India Political Parties Meet discussed the pressing issue of Indian Farm Laws with special emphasis on the farmers movement and the events of 26th January 2021. Delegates came up with insightful deliberations.

The International Monetary Fund was the fourth committee simulated in the conference where they took on the herculean task of reviewing the policies of the nations to achieve sustainable growth. Given the relevance of the SDGs and its integration into our curriculum and pedagogy, the committee reflected the Suncity paradigm.

The International Press consisted of journalists and caricaturists who took copious notes and turned in tongue-in-cheek articles and caricatures on committee proceedings. All the material generated will go into the Conference newsletter which will be shared shortly.

The conference ended with the Awards ceremony.
