Career counseling has become a key initiative for all progressive schools as skill development,consonant with the demands of the 21st century,is one of the main objectives of modern education. At Suncity School we believe in being dynamic in our thinking and praxis and have been engaged in this crucial aspect of high school education for many years. As a leading incubator for change, we partnered with KIC University Assist and the International College and Career Counseling Conference to host the Presidential Forum in our school on the 29th of August, 2017.

 

The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp and felicitation of the guest speakers by Mr. Ankit Goel, Vice Chairperson, Suncity School and the Principal – Ms. Rupa Chakravarty. Mr. Ankit Goel, graciously delivered the Welcome Address.

 

This unique initiative brought together some of the most progressive and erudite personalities associated with high school and college education in India and overseas, and provided a stimulating platform for engaging  in debate and dialogue. Close to fifty eminent educators participated in this conference that addressed issues such as the -  Changing field of careers in the 21st century; Progressive educational institutions addressing the changing landscape of careers and workforce skills; Increased interest in the liberal arts structure of education and so on.

 

The speakers at the event were Prof. (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar, Founding Vice Chancellor, O.P. Jindal Global University, India; Mr. Vineet Gupta, Pro Vice Chancellor, Ashoka University, India; Mr Raj Bellani, Denison University, USA; Ms. Shobha Mishra Ghosh, Asst. Secretary General, FICCI, India; Professor Pankaj Chandra, Vice Chancellor, Ahmedabad University, India; Dr. Pascal Chezot, Principal, Mahatma Gandhi International School, Ahmedabad and Michelle Whittingham from University of California San Diego, USA. The event was moderated by Mr. Arjun Puri from O.P. Jindal University. The conference was also graced by the presence of other notable educationists such as the Principals of La Martiniere School for Boys as well as La Martiniere School for Girls, Kolkata; Executive Director and Principal of Shiv Nadar School, Gurgaon; Principal of DPS International School; Executive Director of Mahatma Gandhi International School, Ahmedabad and the Chairman ofWelham Boys’ School, Dehradun - to name a few.
