Social Science and ICT Week (20 July- 24 July’2020) Report:

Day 1

Subject week celebration aims to foster love for the subject, enhances comprehension, encourages creativity and opens up a horizon for self-expression beyond school curriculum. All this is done through a plethora of activities planned and tailored according to students’ needs and interests.

Striving to achieve the best results in these alter times we commenced the celebrations today i.e., July 20, 2020 SST and ICT virtually. The assembly began with a welcome note by Ananya Sigh of grade XI, who was more than excited to share her views and ideas through the online portal.

Next was a ‘Virtual Yoga’ session. Diya Bhatnager of grade X led the entire audience while performing breathing exercises better known as ‘Pranayam’. It symbolised how the new normal causes constant interruptions in real life.

Next, Ananya Singh invited the choir group for the one of its kind morning prayer. Students though physically distanced, prayed in unity for our planet Earth imploring the gods to give us strength to endure and get through these difficult times.

Later we had students showcasing an amazing performance called the ‘Mirror Dance, which proves our coordination with technology. Some of the virtual formations were actually and literally out of the real world.

Here we have some clippings of the show where we tried to present how technology has evolved communication through ages. Right from the cavemen to the 21st century, the change has been phenomenal.

Another interesting activity was when students came up with their own original pun filled jokes and one liners based on technology. This was a true example of techno fun mingled with creativity.

Next was a video show on how communication has evolved with technology and come full circle as we are back to using emotions for expressions in the form of emoticons and pictures. This is how we are connecting with the olden era with technology.

Later we had ‘lighting of the Candle of hope’ which was passed virtually hoping that these difficult times will pass and good times will follow.

Director Madam Ms. Rupa Chakravarty ignited the candle of hope and passed it to the principal from there it traveled to the heads, teachers and the students.

Last but not the least we had our blast from the past. Shreya Nayyer, an alumnus of Suncity School shook us all with her unparalleled poetry.

The ceremony ended with the performance of national anthem by Aryan Sethi of Grade X on Violin.
