Report of Intra MUN

Grade 11 students of our school organised the fourth edition of the Intra Model United Nations Conference SMUN 2019 on the 2nd and 3rd of November. 2019. Planning and preparation for the same had begun in September with the announcement of the conference and the opening of online applications. 200 students from grade 7-11 had applied to be delegates of this conference.

The event was completely managed and run by students of grades XI in their capacities as Secretariat and Organising Committee. Four committees were simulated which were - United Nations Human Rights Council, United Nations Environment Programme, United Nations Historic Security Council and an All India Political Parties Meet. The committees were chaired by our award winning MUN delegates.

It proved to be a learning experience for all involved. From designing and planing the delegate kit to making a budget for food and refreshments, everything was handled by students with minimum input from faculty advisors. The two days also witnessed intense debates on complex issues like the Cuban Missile Crisis, armed conflict in the MENA region, climate change and abrogation of articles 370 and 35A.

This was a competitive event and the closing ceremony also doubled up as the prize distribution event. It was indeed heartening to note that students from grade 8 and 9 also won awards in different categories, thus proving that the MUN club is in safe hands
