Report - Independence Day Celebration

The school ground of Suncity School, sector 54, Gurugram came alive today with the commemoration of the 73rd Independence Day celebration. Going by the motto of the school, ‘Sadaive Agrani’, the Suncitizens displayed the emotion of patriotism filled with joy, enthusiasm and energy.

The Chief Guest of the evening was Mr Diwakar Sharma, the first runner up of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, who won hearts of the nation with his soulful singing and has performed with many eminent personalities from the world of music. Not only singing, he is also an exemplary achiever in academics. He did not let his visual impairment pose a hurdle in the way of his dreams.

The ceremony began with the hoisting of the Indian flag, followed by the spectacular march past by the students, according to their respective Houses. They marched forward, reaching out to everyone and rising up and standing strong, in their beautiful synchronisation.

Next, was the celebration of India’s success in the field of space exploration. The Suncitizens from grades I & II presented their tableau celebrating the achievements of Indian Space and Research Organization by the launch of Chandrayaan 2 and garnered a huge applause by the audience.

 

This was followed by the students presenting the soulful rendition of our national song, Vande Mataram followed by Sare Jahan se Accha, eulogizing our great Motherland, using the musical cello and violin. The students of Suncity immersed themselves in patriotism by presenting a group song, which pronounced their passion and determination towards building a utopian India.

The Chief Guest, Mr Diwakar Sharma, gave a soul-stirring tribute to our motherland, India by singing the soulful song, Maa, leaving the audience emotional.

Next was the Prize distribution ceremony to award the Suncitizens for their exemplary scholastic and co-scholastic performance. The Class XII District topper of the session 2018-19, Ayush Verma was felicitated by the Chief Guest for scoring an aggregate of ­­­­98%.

Mother Nature has given us everything and the students thanked her by presenting a mesmerising Hindi Dance Drama, ‘Prakriti Matram’.

Next was the time for the young athletes from grades 3 and 4, as the mascots of our fit nation, performing with their skipping rope, living up to the theme of ‘Young India, Fit India’.

As the program was coming to an end the enthusiasm in the school remained the same. The Head Boy gave the vote of thanks, further informing us about the sacrifices made by our soldiers for the sake of our freedom and safety.

The perfect sign-off for the exuberant morning was done with kite-flying, which is synonymous with Independence Day celebrations, as it symbolizes the free spirit of India. It was enjoyed by one and all, young and old and filled them with energy and gaiety.

The Suncity school truly celebrated the bravery of our forefathers and their gift of freedom on the 73rd Independence day of our free India, rejoicing and indulging in celebration, saluting the ones who made it possible, singing in their admiration, who made India stand high and mighty.
