A trained psychologist, acclaimed mental health expert and a revered people-transformation expert, Dr ArunaBroota was invited to hold an interactive session with the students of grade III to grade VIII on Tuesday, 4th September, 2018.

She spoke to the students of grade III and IV about the sensitive topic of safe touch and ‘bad’ touch and suggested the suitable response to be shown by the students in case of an inappropriate touch. Students were encouraged to keep the communication lines open with their teachers and parents.

In the session on ‘Gender Sensitization’, the noted psychologistsaid, “Both boys and girls have different characteristics and we need to understand each other. It's important we learn to respect each other, which is called gender equality.”

She also condemned the approach of teaching boys and girls differently. “There are gender advantages to both men and women, but they are complimentary to each other. Let's not disregard the opposite gender. When we talk of equality we should talk about equal opportunity,” she added.

Let us give the children space to think and act as values can never be taught. It needs to be enhanced by educators and parents through positive role modeling,” she added.
