The multiple intelligences theory is an efficient teaching practice that considers the evolving characteristics of students while acknowledging their individualism. When students work on skills that use different parts of the brain, it not only maximizes learning but galvanizes them to achieve a multi-faceted personality.
Multiple intelligences form an integral part of teaching learning practices at Suncity School and when it is integrated with SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals, given by the UN) enhances its credibility and gives a multi-dimensional learning approach.

 MI-me ‘Multiple Intelligences and me
MI-me 2024, our annual interschool event, is to be held on Friday, 22nd  November, 2024. This is the eleventh year of the event which gives children a platform to create, communicate, collaborate and be compassionate as they deliberate all aspects of life. We look forward to the participation of your esteemed organization in this celebration of learning.

The event has been designed keeping in sync with Howard Gardner’s theory of Multiple Intelligences. The widely recognized intelligences namely- interpersonal, intrapersonal, spatial and naturalistic intelligences besides logical, linguistic, kinesthetic and musical intelligences are found in all human beings and it becomes vital to focus on all the intelligences for developing a holistic personality.

A novel event, this competition has an array of specially designed activities, based on the eight intelligences, that each participant will be expected to participate in, to emerge the ‘MI-me’ champion. A concerted effort has been made to add the SDGs to the Championship.
Design Thinking was included two years ago as a path to creativity and innovation.
The theme for the championship will be ‘Phoenix, from … to …’ - the buzz word for the academic session 2024-25.

Participation can also be for individual categories. These participants however will not be eligible for the MI –me trophy/championship. The event will be judged by an eminent panel of judges across the various intelligences.

We would also like to participate in Event 3, Design Thinking, which will be virtual from 16:00 hours to 18:00 hours on Wednesday, 20th November 2024.

Format of the Competition for ‘MI-me’ ACE

The competition is being organised in four groups:

Group 1: Classes X & XI (teacher in charge: Ms. Ema Satija - ema@suncityschool.in)

Group 2: Classes VIII & IX (teacher in charge: Ms. Srividya Ajith- srividya@suncityschool.in)

Group 3: Classes VI & VII (teacher in charge: Ms. Mitali Mehrotra- mitali@suncityschool.in)

Group 4: Classes IV & V (teacher in charge: Ms. Shivani Kapoor- shivani@suncityschool.in)

Each group will be represented by one participant.
He/she will compete in all of the following categories

Important information:

• Registration from 08:30 hours to 09:00 hours.
• Competitions to begin at 0930 hrs.

Participation

By entering the contest, all teams fully and unconditionally agree to and accept the rules as outlined herein and agree to accept the decision of the judges which is final and binding.

General rules

• All team members to be in school uniform and to maintain the decorum of the event.
• Reporting time is 8.30 hours. [Note: Late reporting does not entail being given extra time.]
• Each team to be accompanied by one teacher.
• Time limit for each competition to be strictly adhered to.
• The student to have his/her camera on at all times during the online Design Thinking event on Wednesday, 20th November 2024
• All Art work will be the host school’s property.
• 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded in each event in each category (For the MI-me Championship category).
• In events with Individual participation, 1st and 2nd prize as well as one consolation prize will be given only in case of 11 participants in that category.
• The decision of the judges will be final and binding.

Prizes and the Trophy

• Winners will be announced at a special ceremony at 14:10 hour on the day of the championship.
• The Rolling Trophy will be presented to the over-all winner of the Competition and other suitable trophies/medals/certificates will be presented to the individual winners and runners-up of each event.
• The host school will not lift/lay claim to the overall trophy in the event of winning it and shall forfeit the same to the runner up team.
• Press release with names of the winners, and their teachers and schools will be provided for submission to the local media. In the course of printing in the media, any editing done by the newspaper will not be the liability of the host school.

Matters not covered by the rules

The Director of the host school is empowered to make decisions on any matters not otherwise specifically provided for in the rules.

Duration: 25 minutes for preparation and time required for presentation.

Rules and regulations for the event:

• Objective: This year the championship will focus on SDG # 2, 3, 12, 13 and 16. Participants are required to develop prior knowledge and understanding of these goals. On the day of the event, contestants to be shown three short video clips. They will have to identify the problem and the related SDGs that is common in all three clips (example global warming) and then using the design thinking paradigm provide a solution for the problem.

• Each contestant give a presentation of dance/aerobics/gymnastics/yoga related to the SDG 3, Good Health and Well Being)
• The presentation should be 1.30- 2 minutes.
• Only devotional, motivational or classical music to be used.

Event 5. VUCA WORLD

Multiple Intelligences involved

Logical and Linguistic Kinesthetic

Rules and regulations for the event:

• Each contestant will solve a given set of questions related to problem solving, analytical skills and physical hurdles
• They will clear the ‘hurdles’(logical problems and athletic tract hurdles) to win the race in the shortest possible time in the school field.
• This event will showcase SDG 15 (Life on Land)
• Students should be physically fit for this event.
