Refectory is a place used for communal meals in an educational institution.The refectory forms the heart of the institution as students eat and connect with each other.
Students and teachers all partake of their meals in the school refectory in Suncity. The refectory has an open kitchen wherein the daily food is cooked under the most stringent parameters of hygiene and cleanliness. A nutritionist ensures that the food served constitutes a balanced diet.
The refectory has bain-marie counters for serving food. There are four bain-marie counters segregated thoughtfully according to classes. Students stand in a line and wait their turn.
There is a main station to ask for a specialize preparation specially for teachers.
For Elementary Years Programme (EYP) students the table is laid out properly with table mats, crockery and cutlery. The EYP, students are served by the nannies and waiters.
The students take their seats, say the grace and then proceed to have their food. Home room tutors sit with the students to have their food. She imparts proper learning to the students regarding table manners, use of cutlery, good eating habits and also why they should never waste food. Students are taught to eat their food independently and also learn to put away the used crockery and cutlery on the steel trolleys placed at the end of the refectory.
Students of classes I and above have to carry coupons to school for availing of the food served in the refectory. They have to do self service. All students are entitled to ask for extra helpings, if they so desire.
The menu for the month is put up on the school portal for the perusal of parents, teachers and students.
The food served in the refectory is highly savoured and praised by all.
