Open Learning Areas

Suncity school building is divided into pores which has a quadrangle also called a courtyard in the middle. These courtyards form the open learning areas. Pore 1 has an open learning area which is meant for the EYP-Elementary Years students. It has an amphitheatre and a very interesting concept of the MI (Multiple Intelligences) stations. The learning stations intersperse the amphitheatre. They are logical / reasoning, Bodily Kinaesthetic and many other learning stations which help the Transversal learning process. Pore 2 or middle pore open learning area is again a quadrangle with a checkered stone courtyard meant for teaching and learning of Mathematics and Social Sciences. The Maths Matrix lab and Social Science Lab (Naturalistic) has the privilege of using the middle open learning area for their respective concepts. The checkered area helps to represent a graph, thus helping to do activities related to Mathematics and Geography. Other topics of Mathematics like Mensuration, Probability, Ratio-Proportion etc. can also be taught through the open learning area in the pore 2. Pore 3 is an open learning area related to Science; Botany to be more precise. It has various plants in the area which have leaves of different kinds. Leaves are a good way to classify plants as a succulent one would have a leaf blade which is pointed and tapering. An arid zone plant would have a thorny leaf and so on. The leaves could be pinnate / binnate which would again help in recognising the classification of the plants. The pore was designed with a focus on learning the kinds of leaves to classify plants.
